It snowed.

A strange harsh light this morning the usual village sounds muffled. The PON parade, Sophie in the lead, arrives outside the bedroom to let me know that it's snowed overnight. Not much snow but enough to stop the school buses running. The PONs are very excited at the arrival of Polish weather. Bob stands at the door and whimpers with excitement.

This is of course a morning when 'The Font' was supposed to head off to the airport.  One of those occasions when I'm reminded why we have a Swedish 4x4.

Dust sheets are spread over the carpets in the downstairs hallway. Sophie's fur collects snow which then congeals into lumps and slowly melts as it's distributed around the house.

Yesterday was The Old Farmers 86th birthday. A year since he fell down his stairs and broke his leg. To celebrate he and the Belgian lady made crepes.

Today marks the centenary of one of the most important pieces of 'first step' legislation. The 1918 Representation of the Peoples Act :

We had snow in Tokyo about ten days ago, an unusual occurence for us. Cherry, who does not necessarily share Bob and Sophie's enthusiasm for rain and wind, adored the snow, eating it, rolling in it and, most importantly, peeing in it. Even this morning, when I thought the snow had all long since melted away, she managed to find one tiny little remaining patch to adorn.

By the way, I also need to thank you for reporting the rugby scores the other day. I was at lunch with my (English) colleagues yesterday, who were making a big point about their total and deliberate ignorance of American football and the Super Bowl and insisting the real action this week was in rugby - at which point thanks to you I was able to astound them with my own (very cosmopolitan) knowledge of the Scotland-Wales match. Sorry it went the wrong way, of course!

Gosh 86.OF has really done well in recovery. That article on global warming is extremely "interesting", thank you for the research as usual

Tell the Old Farmer that all kinds of strangers from around France--around the world, even--are sending him birthday bisous.
The snow might come here tonight.

Amazing how resilient the Old Farmer is - many congratulations on his 86th birthday.
We had real PON weather at the weekend - snow on the high ground across the valley !

Felicitations to the OF, and best wishes for many more happy years.
-1 C in the Charente-Maritime this morning, and the predicted snow seems to have disappeared from the forecast (for the moment) -- rather to the relief of the budding jonquils.

We had snow overnight too, in the Touraine. Not much and it's mostly melted by lunchtime, but welcome all the same.

Thankfully I can report no snow near Atlanta, Georgia. However, next week ???. Hope Bob and Sophie enjoy their snow day. Best wishes for the Old Farmer and his Lady.

Well, to contribute to the global weather report, low 80's F in Southern California. Thinking we're heading toward another drought, but it IS beautiful...

Remember that glorious 'muffled' sound from childhood....with the magic announcement 'no school today'.
